Description
CryoCor develops and manufactures a disposable catheter system based on its proprietary cryoablation technology for the minimally invasive treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
Products / Services
The CryoCor's product line consists of four integrated components: the cryoablation console, the articulating arm with attached precooler, the cryoablation catheter, and the vascular sheath introducer. Each product has been designed by CryoCor to optimize system safety and performance. Component compatibility simplifies set-up and reduces procedure time.
Technology / Differentiation
CryoCor's primary product is the CryoCor Cardiac Cryoablation System, which is designed to treat cardiac arrhythmias through the use of cryoenergy, or extreme cold, to ablate, or destroy, targeted cardiac cells.
Competitors / Substitutes / Alternatives
Boston Scientific Corp., Johnson & Johnson, St.Jude Medical Inc.
Status
In August 2007, the FDA has granted pre-market approval (PMA) for CryoCor's Cardiac Cryoablation System for the treatment of right atrial flutter. In July 2007, CryoCor and Boston Scientific Corporation announced a strategic collaboration in the field of cryoablation for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The collaboration involves the co-development of therapeutic solutions for atrial fibrillation. The patented system is CE Mark approved in Europe where it is commercially available for use in treating atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and other supraventricular tachycardias. In the United States, CryoCor has completed enrollment in a pivotal trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Cryoablation System for the treatment of atrial fibrillation and the Cryoablation System has been approved in the United States for the treatment of right atrial flutter.
