Johnson & Johnson’s Cordis Corporation has signed on to distribute percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) balloon catheters made by ClearStream Technologies, a medical device firm based in Ireland. Under the brand names SLEEK and SAVVY LONG, the PTA catheters will be marketed by Cordis’s endovascular division. The SLEEK balloon will be the first .014″ guidewire-compatible rapid-exchange balloon fully dedicated to infrapopliteal vessels, while the SAVVY LONG will provide an .018″ guidewire-compatible over-the-wire alternative for both superficial femoral and infrapopliteal arteries. Both products are currently available in the U.S. and are expected to hit international markets in the second quarter of 2007.
