The 6th Annual AdvaMed 2012 MedTech Conference kicks off October 1st for a 3-day event covering the hottest issues in the sector.
The conference has built a strong reputation thanks to poignant, interesting programming, which includes panels dedicated to corporate development challenges, plenary sessions featuring diverse voices, and the CEOs Unplugged series, in which top industry executives speak candidly within an audience-interactive environment.
This year, AdvaMed expects more than 2,100 attendees, 800 MedTech companies from 24 countries, 36 states and Washington, DC.

This diverse representation is key, as MedTech developers must rely on multiple angles of support . The number of notable investors, big pharma and publicly-funded institutions participating this year suggests the climate of the industry remains optimistic.
This year, the CEOs Unplugged series will highlight from policy and advocacy to M&A to the needs of emerging growth companies to the medical device excise tax.

The unplugged series consists of 13 sessions featuring 35 top industry leaders from companies at various developmental stages — from big pharma to pre-clinical — as well as leading private equity firms, laboratories, hospitals, and trade associations. Session highlights include:
- Medical Technology Industry Pioneers
- International Issues, with a focus on EU & U.K.
- Emerging Growth Company Issues
- Diagnostics
- Global Leading MedTech CEOs from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Cluster
AdvaMed 2012 main themes will focus on the issues facing medical device developers, changing regulatory tides and the upcoming Presidential election, and emerging markets abroad.
For the first time the conference will take place in Boston, a hotbed of medical device and life sciences development and one of the largest medical clusters in the world. This year, AdvaMed will focus greatly on the Massachusetts MedTech community, with local VIPs participating in panels (including New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft) and a reception late Wednesday featuring some of the top All-Star athletes.
“Holding this event in Boston dramatically increases access to some of the industry’s top decision makers and financiers,” said Ray Briscuso, Managing Partner and Producer of AdvaMed 2012. “Attendees and speakers at AdvaMed 2012 are the best in AdvaMed’s history.”
The plenary sessions will pay attention to volatile issues related to national policies on healthcare. Leading economists, journalists, and healthcare pioneers will discuss how the election can impact the healthcare complex, as well as the MedTech ecosystem.
A session devoted to angel investors and early stage companies opens the panel track, which will feature panels on the most volatile sectors of MedTech: Opthalmic, Orthopedic, Wound Management and Cardiovascular.
Dispersed throughout the 3-day event are workshops exploring the inner-workings of bringing devices to market, as well as networking receptions.
Focused on bringing venture capital, angel and private equity investors together with industry stakeholders and addressing policy issues, AdvaMed 2012 brings together industry leaders from across the U.S. and around the world. Visit www.advamed2012.com for more details.
