Gig Harbor, WA-based Generic Medical Devices (GMD) has formed a U.S. sales team to start pushing its low-cost devices. GMD, the first company in the medical device field to implement a generic model similar to the one that has posed great threat to branded pharmaceutical firms, received 501(k) clearance last month for its Universal Surgical Mesh product and in January 2007 for its Universal Circumcision Clamp. The newly appointed team will be responsible for selling both products.
There will be four regional directors who will manage a network of independent reps and distributors. Bruno Bisceglia, formerly VP of sales and marketing for Cognitive Screening Services, will direct sales efforts in the West; Rick Bingham, who joined GMD from Caldera Medical, is responsible for the Northeast; and Gerard Adams, from Cord Blood Solutions and Bard Urological, is in charge of the Southeast region. A fourth director will be named to handle the Midwest U.S.
