US-China Investment Partnership Formed to Bring Medical Technology to China
OneMedMarket recently announced the expansion of its annual China Forum. This year’s event will connect strategic investors from China with emerging growth companies in the healthcare and life sciences space. The partnering event will be held January 14-15, 2015 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. The China Forum will follow OneMedForum, which will take place on January 12-13, 2015.
“We are excited to add a strong emphasis on partnering to the expanded China Forum,” said Brett Johnson, Founder of OneMedForum. This development is the result of a joint venture between OneMedForum and The Pharma Partners of Hong Kong (TPP). TPP has selected 50 investment groups to attend, each with at least $10 million USD allocated to license or acquire technologies, products, and companies in 2015.
“Our goal is to identify companies that would be most relevant and successful in China. We expect many companies presenting at OneMedForum to attend and learn about potential opportunities. While, of course, this is not a requirement, we welcome many of our U.S. healthcare and life sciences companies to capitalize on this unique opportunity,” said Johnson. The event will focus primarily on companies with products that are currently approved or very near commercialization.
TPP is a consulting company comprised of pharma and healthcare veterans with an extensive network in China’s healthcare sector. “We were seeking a partner to help identify investments appropriate to China,” said Tony Chu, Co-founder of TPP and President of Eastar Pharmaceuticals, a leading provider of chemicals to the pharmaceutical sector in China. “The network of companies built by OneMedPlace and the success of OneMedForum made them our first choice when seeking a U.S. partnership,” said Mr. Chu.
This combined effort can provide an efficient means to serve the growing healthcare needs of China with the best technologies from all over the world. In recent years, leading thinkers in the Chinese healthcare industry have contributed by providing insight about successful transactions and facilitating a network of reputable organizations throughout the country.
Asa Cox, Co-founder of TPP and CEO of GenericPharma 2.0, stated, “For most Western companies, China is an untapped source of capital and distribution, yet nearly impossible to reach without Chinese partners. This new relationship and the China Forum platform can facilitate joint ventures, distribution agreements, and direct investment in promising companies.”
Companies invited to participate will have their communication tools translated into Mandarin for distribution to targeted Chinese investors. Companies and investors will be educated prior to face-to-face meetings, so that meetings can be arranged before the event. Follow-up meetings will be held in Shanghai in March 2015.
The two-day event will be held at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. Participants in OneMedForum may attend. For more information contact info@onemedmarket.com or view further details at OneMedConferences.
