NovaDel Pharma CEO Resigns

Jan Egberts has resigned as president and CEO of Flemington, NJ-based NovaDel Pharma. The company’s board has appointed its chairman, Steven Ratoff, to serve as interim chief while NovaDel initiates a search for a permanent replacement.

NovaDel did not specify a reason for Egbert’s departure, which appears to be on amicable terms: “I have enjoyed my tenure at NovaDel and the relationships I have forged with the company’s employees, partners and shareholders,” said Egbert, in a press release. “Now that the building blocks are firmly in place for NovaDel to move to its next phase of progress, I feel this is a good time to transition from the company to pursue other opportunities that have interested me for some time.”

Ratoff, a private investor, joined NovaDel’s board in 2004 and has served as its chairman since September 2006. He also currently serves as a venture partner with ProQuest Investments, a healthcare-focused VC firm, and is on TorreyPines Therapeutics’ board.
