OneMedForum NY 2012 to spotlight JOBS Act, Crowdfunding, and Promising Areas for Healthcare Investment

The 3rd Annual ‘OneMedForum NY’ will include sessions on how dramatic changes in regulation, through the passing of the JOBS Act, will create opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs. The conference will also feature expert panels in the most promising areas of healthcare and life science investment followed by company presentations.

Established in 2008, OneMedForum, the conference component of OneMedPlace, provides an integrated media platform to showcase the best ideas and innovations in health and medicine globally.

“With the passage of the JOBS Act over 70 years of securities regulation has changed. When coupled with health reform and advances in digital technology changing how healthcare is delivered, we are at a period of historic risk and opportunity for investors and entrepreneurs,” said Brett Johnson, President of OneMedPlace. “Our objective is to provide unique insight and to connect promising innovative companies with investors seeking outsized returns.”

In addition to expert panels and workshops, the conference will include presentations by almost 50 companies that are developing technologies in the most promising areas of health and medicine, including regenerative medicine, diagnostics, oncology, and consumer health information. Investor guides that include a near comprehensive list of companies and resources in these areas will also be provided to delegates.

“We are inviting companies that represent investment opportunity and whose innovations we think will impact the marketplace,” said Brett Johnson.“These are companies that you would not likely see at typical investment banking conferences.”

A dedicated track on the JOBS Act will look at how changes to the general solicitation rules (Regulation D) can change the capital raising process. It will consider crowdfunding and how biotech and medical device companies can use it as part of an overall strategy to not only raise capital, but also galvanize global audiences of individuals passionate about various areas of medicine.

Held one week after the rules on crowdfunding and general solicitation are to be issued by the SEC, the event will include analysis by leading experts and regulators on how the legislation will affect capital raising. The conference will open with a reception on July 11th and a keynote address by David Weild IV, former NASDAQ ViceChair. Mr. Weild’s research played a fundamental role in the passage of the JOBS Act, and his ongoing consultation with the SEC is expected to shape the rules, particularly as related to IPOs.

OneMedResearch, which focuses on small public companies that are significantly undervalued, will be sponsoring a public company track. Public company presentations will also be streamed live on OneMedTV beginning 9 am on July 12th.
