[Quick Take] Interview with Dan Sade Hochstadter, CEO of Keren Medical

Keren Medical is developing anastomosis suturing technology for minimally invasive surgeries (an anastomosis is an operation to connect two body parts). The company’s flagship product is a patented surgical instrument that allows surgeons to more easily and accurately complete the difficult anastomosis between the bladder and urethra following radical prostatectomy. The result is a faster, more precise operation resulting in early recovery of postoperative continence.

The disposable device is designed to thread six absorbable sutures between the bladder neck and the urethral stump. It incorporates two independent sets of hollow Nitinol needles: one for the sutures’ passage through the bladder neck, and a second set for passing the other end of the sutures through the urethral stump.
