S.E.A. Medical Systems, Inc., a privately held medical device company dedicated to making intravenous (IV) drug delivery safer for patients, recently welcomed two additions to their Board of Directors. David W. Bates and David A. Kvancz have joined the Board at a pivotal time for the company as they are developing and pursuing broader product lines in IV drug safety and management.
David W. Bates is Chief of the Division of General Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Medical Director of Clinical and Quality Analysis for Partner’s Healthcare Systems, and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Bates is internationally recognized for his work on the epidemiology of adverse drug events, for his role in developing and evaluating technological solutions to improving quality, most notably with computerized order entry and for using information technology to improve clinical decision-making, patient safety, quality-of-care, cost-effectiveness, and outcomes assessment in medical practice.
David A. Kvancz is Vice President, National Pharmacy Programs and Services for Kaiser Permanente. Prior to joining Kaiser in 2010, David was the Chief Pharmacy Officer at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio and the Cleveland Clinic Health System. Previously, David served as Associate Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and as Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.David has served as ASHP Practice Managers Section chair and as a member of the ASHP / Georgetown University Center for Health System Pharmacy Leadership Development Advisory Committee. At the state level, he has served in multiple positions including Organizational Affairs Director of the Ohio Society of Health System Pharmacists and President of the Arizona Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the Southern Arizona Chapter. David has had several publications in professional journals and has delivered numerous presentations at national, state and local meetings.
